What We're Working Toward In the past few years Wilderness Trail has experienced a lot of growth.  That means we if we don't add to our facilities and staff now, we'll quickly reach a maximum capacity.  In order to keep opening our doors to more hikers each year we've already added a 6th Summer Event, increased our Summer Staff to 15, completed 8 Sleeping Shelters, and fixed the leaky roof on our Lodge.  We want to continue to provide the same quality experience to more people each year and over time. Our next plans are for two much-needed buildings:  a new bathhouse and new staff housing.  The existing facilities were built long ago, when our annual attendance was literally a fraction of what it is now.  Our bathhouse has just 2 showers for each gender; our staff cabins were intended to house 8 people.  Palm Harbor Homes is working with us to construct these new buildings at cost!  We hope to have them built before our Summer 2010 Events begin.  To work toward these goals, we are hoping to raise $75,000 in the last two months of 2009.  Read on to learn about many ways to contribute to Wilderness Trail; we hope that one of these ways fits your resources and budget.  If you have any questions or want more information, don't hesitate to contact our Executive Director, Alisa Tripolino.
Growing with our Growth As attendance at our Summer Events increases - up 60% from 2005 - our facilities need to increase.  Above are drawings and plans for the new bathhouse.  To the right are the drawings and plans for two new staff cabins that will also serve as bunk options in the spring and fall.  TAKE A HIKE will help us fund projects like these that are essential to our growth.

This is a great way to recognize a person or occasion with a gift that truly lasts.  Gifts may be made in honor of a special person or to celebrate an important event.  Contributions may also be made in memory of a friend or family member.  Send a check to P.O. Christmas Ornaments

Wilderness Trail makes a new pewter Christmas ornament each holiday season in a limited edition of 100.  2009's ornament represented "The Sweeper's Place," our lodge. You can still order yours; each ornament costs $50 and all proceeds will go toward our upcoming capital improvements.  We have a few 2008 ornaments left (the Chapel); while supplies last, you can purchase the 2008 ornament with this 2009's for $75.  Once you make payment through our web payment page and you will be contacted via email to confirm the shipping information. 

Tie-Dyed T-Shirts

Wilderness Trail is all out of its tie-dyed t-shirts!  Look for them again around the holidays.

Planned Giving

By including Wilderness Trail in your financial and estate plans, you may increase your current income as well as provide future support to our ministry.

Types of planned gifts include a bequest.  In this situation you can leave a percentage, a specific amount, and/or the residual of your estate to Wilderness Trail (see example below). A bequest can be unrestricted or restricted for a specific purpose and will reduce the taxable portion of your estate.

To include Wilderness Trail in your will:  "I give ($_______; ______%  and/or all of the residue of my estate) to Wilderness Trail, Inc., Asheville, NC, a North Carolina not-for-profit corporation."
